November 2009 - New Album Out Soon
For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting, your patience has been worth it! Doxa's first CD is due to be released some time this November. For those of you who were not anticipating an album, you get a nice surprise!
Over the last year Matt Tipton, Tyson Hounsel, and their backing band mates have been working on recording the best CD you'll ever hear. Well okay, that may be subject to personal opinion, but the fact is, if you enjoy the music on Sunday mornings you'll love this CD.
This epic full length studio album featuring some of the best originals from these inspired song writers as well as some timeless classic hymns will be the band's first album released under the name of "Doxa", which is Greek for "glory".
The album, with the title of Brought to New Life, will feature songs you know, but if youre thinking that youd like to hear something new then don't worry because your ear drums will be tickled with delight as you learn to love the studio versions of these songs that feature effects and layers that the band is unable to do live.
If youre one of those Seattleite music snobs (come on you know a bunch of us are) then don't worry about this CD getting over produced. This is a totally, 100% grass roots project. The few songs on the CD that aren't Tipton or Hounsel originals are timeless hymns redone in a simple and refreshing Journey style that invites you to sing along to your iPod. Plus, all the vocals, instrumentation, and song arrangements will feature your normal Sunday morning musicians, and all the recording, mixing, and mastering is being done by our very own Matt Tipton and Kenneth McLarin. Even the artwork is being done in-house.
God has truly blessed this body with talented and gifted people who are choosing to use those gifts to glorify Him. So you can sleep easy tonight knowing that the musical styles youve come to love on Sunday mornings will be well-preserved, and nothing will be compromised for this CD.
This may truly be the best worship album you buy all year as it ranges from the anthemic calls to praise in "So We Carry On" and "Delight" to the intimate and slowly building "Riches of His Grace" that finally explodes with guitars, strings, drums, and vocals that envelope you and carry you to your own private place of worship.
